David J. Schweitzer, special envoy of the Hias-Ica emigration Association, will shortly leave for Palestine with the view of establishing there a branch of the Hias Immigrant Bank for the purpose of facilitating the transmission of funds from American Jews to their relatives in liberated countries who might wish to immigrate to Palestine.
Mr. Schweitzer, who just returned from Lisbon to London, is expected to go on the first steamer which sails from Portugal directly for Palestine. He will escort the first group of more than 600 Jewish refugees who have been waiting for months in Portugal and in Spain to secure transportation after having received their Palestine immigration visas through the Jewish Agency.
