A man named Monty Harris was today arraigned in a magistrate’s court here following a raid Saturday by Scotland Yard agents on a shop in the East End of London. Harris, who is being held on a charge of illegal possession of explosives, told the court that “this is a political and national matter.” He was remanded for trial next Monday.
The detectives, suspecting that Irgunists are still operating in London, swooped down on a number of different homes and shops in the Jewish section of the city. Apparently acting on a tip, they searched the shop in which Harris was apprehended and discovered a large quantity of explosives and ammunition.
