The second anti-Israeli manifestation in two weeks was discovered by police at Santa Fe City, Argentina, when it was found that a street sign marking “State of Israel Street” had been taken from its fastenings and broken.
A fortnight ago, during the celebration of Israel’s Independence Day at Santa Fe City, the Israeli flag was torn down and burned in the middle of the same street. Police said that “hoodlums” were responsible, and that they were unable to trace any of the perpetrators.
To protest the desecration of the Israeli flag, Jewish shops closed the next day for four hours. In solidarity with the Jewish community, many non-Jewish shops also closed. The local press condemned the vandals sharply and demanded that police find those who were responsible for both acts.
