A second French policeman died here this afternoon as a result of wounds sustained during last Saturday’s terrorist attack against E1 A1 passengers at the Orly Airport. One policeman, a senior non-commissioned officer was shot dead Saturday by the terrorists when he tried to check their luggage.
The non-commissioned officer, Sgt. Maj. Paul Jean, was yesterday named “a hero of the nation” by the French government and posthumously promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in the French crack police unit of the republican security squads. This second death is liable to further turn French Public opinion against the terrorists and their Arab backers. two more policemen involved in the shootout with the terrorists are still hospitalized but their condition was described as “satisfactory.” Doctors said they were off the danger list.
