The Israel-Jordan dispute and the visit of United Nations Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold to the Middle East were mentioned this week-end when Israeli Ambassador Abba Eban met with Secretary of State John Foster Dulles, although Mr. Eban made known that this was not the main issue discussed.
After a lengthy discussion with Secretary Dulles Friday afternoon, Mr. Eban told the press that a great deal of ground was covered. Discussed were such matters as Israel’s general security problem against the background of regional and world developments, political, economic and other questions.
Mr. Eban said a general review took place of all main problems of mutual interest in line with continuing close contact between the United States and Israel. The chief forum for discussion of the current Jordan frontier situation is the United Nations, Mr. Eban said. He told of his meeting Thursday with Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold.
