Jacob Blaustein, honorary president of the American Jewish Committee, said today after calling on Secretary of State John Foster Dulles that he had had a cordial and informative discussion of Near Eastern questions with the Secretary.
Eric Johnston, President Eisenhower’s special envoy to the Near East, met today with Secretary Dulles and received a final State Department briefing before his departure by air Sunday for Israel.
Accompanied by Arthur Z. Gardiner, chief political-economic adviser of the State Department Near Eastern Division, Mr. Johnston discussed with Mr. Dulles the prospects of bringing Israel and the Arab states together on the regional use of water for power and irrigation.
