Secretary of State John Foster Dulles today reiterated hope for friendly relations with the United Arab Republic. He expressed this view in press conference comments on UAR President Nasser’s visit to Moscow.
Commenting on the portents of Nasser-Khrushchev negotiations, Mr. Dulles said the United States recognized the UAR on an assumption that it would conduct itself in a way consistent with regional peace. Mr. Dulles indicated that he continues to hope that this will be the case and that relations of the UAR with America will be friendly. He said Egyptian assets in this country were unblocked because the reason for blockade ceased to exist when the UAR agreed to compensate the Suez Canal Company.
