Secretary General Kurt Waldheim is expected to go to the Middle East this week to seek Syrian agreement to renew the mandate of the United Nations Disengagement Observers Force (UNDOF) on the Golan Heights, which expires Nov. 30, it was reported here Sunday. The status of the 1200-member force will have to be taken up by the Security Council before the deadline. The Syrians, who have not yet indicated their intentions, may wait until the last minute before agreeing to another UNDOF extension.
