Praise for the role played by foreign-born Americans in the war effort was expressed in a message by Secretary of State Cordell Hull read today at the national conference of the American Committee for Protection of Foreign Born, held at the Hotel Commodore. Earl G. Harrison, U.S. Commissioner of Immigration and Naturalization, was one of the principal speakers.
Secretary Hull, in his message, said: “I should like to take this occasion to pay tribute to the foreign born Americans who are so valiantly supporting the United Nations’ victory in the war against the Axis. There is no more inspiring feature of our national war effort than the wholehearted devotion with which Americans irrespective of race or religion are performing their duty of citizenship in this grave national crisis.”
