Morris D. Waldman, secretary of the American Jewish Committee, left yesterday on the Statendam for an extended European trip in furtherance of the work of the Committee. Mr. Waldman expects to spend considerable time looking into the civil and political conditions of the Jews of Eastern countries, and to confer with the leaders of European organizations and others on these matters. His itinerary will include Germany, Austria, Hungary, Poland, Roumania, and other Southern and Eastern countries.
Mr. Waldman will also spend some time at Geneva, to supplement studies which he has been making for some time of the practical workings of the procedure of the League of Nations in handling complaints of infractions of the provisions of the minority treaties. In view of the disquieting reports now coming from Roumania, Mr. Waldman is planning to visit that country first.
