Secretary of the Interior Oscar Chapman today told the oil and coal industry division of the United Jewish Appeal that Israel can look forward to providing goods for the Middle Eastern countries. “All this is predicated.” said Mr. Chapman.” on my belief that, even though at the moment there is a degree of coolness and enmity between its neighbors and Israel, as the years wear on, and not to long hence, peace and understanding will prevail so that Israel can make progress as fast its intelligence, initiative and effort will permit it to do.”
The Secretary of Interior point out that ” until the people of Israel can achieve an industrial and agricultural development which will make it possible for them to rely on their own resources, they will require help from the outside.”
