Secretary of State Colin Powell wrote to the organizers of the “Geneva accord,” praising the unofficial peace plan. A spokesman for the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv said Powell’s letter was not an official endorsement of the accord and did not negate U.S. support for the “road map” peace plan.
