Current problems of mutual interest to the United States and Israel were discussed at the State Department today during a meeting between Secretary of State Dean Rusk and Israel Ambassador Avraham Harman. It is assumed that the Syrian-Israeli issue, which is now pending at the United Nations Security Council was also among the subjects discussed.
A luncheon was given by the State Department today in honor of Gideon Rafael, deputy director-general of Israel’s Foreign Ministry. Joseph J. Sisco, Assistant Secretary of State for International Organizational affairs, was host at the luncheon. Among those attending were Ambassador Harman; U.S. Ambassador-at-large W. Averell Harriman; and Israel Minister Sphraim Evron.
