The United Nations Security Council will meet in urgent session at 11 a.m. tomorrow to consider Jordan’s complaint against Israel stemming from Israel’s reprisal raid against Jordan on November 13.
Arthur J. Goldberg, the United States Ambassador to the U.N., who is the November president of the Security Council, set the meeting at the request of Mohammed El Farra, Jordan’s permanent representative. Michael S. Comay, Israel’s permanent delegate, sent a request to the Security Council for permission to speak tomorrow when the debate opens.
The Security Council meeting will be the second in recent weeks stemming from Israel-Arab border tensions. On November 4, the Council ended three weeks of debate on an Israeli complaint against Syria with a Soviet veto of a resolution which “invited” Syria to strengthen measures to prevent terrorist raids into Israel. Ten of the 15 Council members voted for the resolution, including the United States, Britain and France, in addition to the six sponsors.
