Israeli security forces smashed a new Arab underground terrorist organization in a series of lightning raids on the night of Jan. 24-25 that netted 71 members and a large cache of arms and ammunition, a military spokesman announced today.
The new group, organized into cells, called itself “el commune el Arab.” The raids and arrests followed tip-offs from Arabs previously arrested and interrogated by security police. Among the arms seized were submachine guns, rifles and mortar shells.
