There is an anti-Semitic influence pervading the International Bank of Reparations and this influence emanates particularly from American banking circles, declares the local newspaper, “Montagsmorgen.” Austria is keenly affected by this racial prejudice, since the banking trade of Austria is so largely in Jewish hands.
All the directors and officials of the Reparations Bank, with only a few unimportant exceptions, are non-Jews. This, according to the “Montagsmorgen,” appearing on the eve of a conference of Jewish bank officials of Austria, is in accordance with American practices, where few Jews have entry into the inner banking circles. It reports that the American president of the Bank of Reparations and his American co-workers are anxous to retain this system.
An investigation of this report by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency’s correspondent here has as yet failed to verify the truth of this report in the “Montagsmorgen,” since in well-informed Jewish circles here there is as yet no desire to make the issue public.
