The Einstein Jubilee Celebration at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York, held on the initiative of the Jewish National Fund and the Zionist Organization of America, was prominently featured in the Austrian press as an event of international importance.
The newspapers quoted in particular the message of President Hoover praising Einstein’s scientific contribution.
An amusing confusion was that found in the “Neue Freie Presse.” Vi### leading newspaper which believed that the Hoover message to the Metropolitan Opera House meeting was a part of the Presidential Message to Congress which came across the cables at the same time.
