The Jewish press of Poland is rather fearful of the results the change in the cabinet will bring as far as Polish Jews are concerned. It is clear that Prime Minister Witos will seek to isolate the minorities, particularly the Jewish deputies, and prevent their exercising any influence upon Polish policy in order that the nationalist majority shall remain loyal and intact. In this respect Witos will most likely follow the course pursued by his predecessor Sikorski. It will be recalled that Premier Sikorski’s last speech contained an obvious slight of the Jews. Prior to the vote which sent him to defeat Sikorski had declared his Government was purely Polish and was dependent only upon the Polish National, majority. The Jewish deputies who had voted for the socialist resolution against the inclusion of the extreme Right parties in the new government, were bitterly disappointed when this resolution was defeated by a vote of 210 against 180.
It is expected that Premier Witos will inaugurate an anti-Jewish policy by giving official sanction to the agitation favoring the restriction of Jewish students in universities.
