A dismissal of the petition for an injunction brought against the Vaad Hoeir, St. Louis orthodox board, and Leon Gaulman, editor of the “Jewish Record,” by Abraham Spasser, doing business as a kosher butcher, and Benjamin Rosenfeld and Abraham Bernstein, ousted slaughterers, who have been denied the right to slaughter animals under the supervision of the Vaad Hoeir, was asked yesterday by attorneys for the Vaad Hoeir, representing St. Louis orthodox congregations.
Final determination of the case, which has been before the court for more than week, will be made next Thursday by Judge Granville Hogan in the Circuit Court. The attorneys for those opposing the granting of an injunction told Judge Hogan that the issue was a religious one and no court can interfere and enjoin rabbis from enforcing kashruth. It was also said that the courts had no jurisdiction.
