Plans for a campaign against the “mushroom” synagogues will be considered Monday. June 10th, at the monthly meeting of the Association of Presidents of Jewish Congregations in Brooklyn, according to an announcement by H. Louis Jacobson, president.
Consideration will be given at this meeting for the introduction of an amendment to the Religious Corporation Laws of the State of New York. The Association, in its campaign to eliminate the “mushroom” synagogues. Mr. Jacobson stated, will endeavor to incorporate in this amendment a provision, that no Jewish congregations shall be organized without the sanction of some governing or ecclesiastic board. This amendment would be offered at the next session of the Legislature.
