Seek Medal for Cab Driver Who Risked Life to Aid Policeman

Rep. Joseph A. Gavagan (Dem.,N.Y.) today introduced a bill seeking the award of a Congressional gold medal to Leonard Weishberg, the New York taxi driver who risked his life in an effort to assist Patrolman Edward Maher, who was killed Jan. 14 in an effort to apprehend two payroll bandits.
