The Zionist Council of New South Wales has asked Acting Australian Prime Minister A.W. Fadden for the right to form an army of non-British Jews as a unit of the Empire forces for service in Palestine and elsewhere, it was reported here today.
Fadden is forwarding the request to Prime Minister Menzies, who is in London. The Zionist delegation in Sydney pointed out that refugees in Australia had repeatedly offered their services for the war effort.
