Whether the present Rumanian government wishes it or not it will be forced to introduce a numerus clausus for Jews in the fields of education and industry, the Curentul, nationalist Rumanian daily, predicted today.
The paper criticizes the National Peasant Party for rejecting the proposal of ex-Minister Vaida-Voevod, one of its leaders, to incorporate anti-Jewish paragraphs into its program and demand the limitation of Jews in commerce and in schools.
“The proposal of Vaida-Voevod, though rejected by his own party, will be taken up by other parties,” the paper asserts. “The government will be compelled to carry out restrictions for Jews in trade, and in the school system.”
