Efforts are now being made in Rumania to deprive the Jews of the most elementary rights, including the right to work for a living, Dr. William Filderman, president of the Union of Rumanian Jews, declared today.
In a message to Rumanian Jewish youth Dr. Filderman described the present situation as “worse than fifteen years ago when Jewish emancipation in Rumania was accomplished.”
The administration of the youth organization is now launching a nation-wide campaign against anti-Semitism and has also prepared a program of lectures treating with such topics as assimilation, the Zionist movement and the Jew in politics.
To combat the demagogic anti-Semitic propaganda of organizations such as the Iron Guard and the Guzists, the youth group is establishing a statistical bureau to compile and publish data on the origin of Rumanian Jews and their position in the community.
