America holds “the whip hand” in the economic world, Isadore A. Hirschmann, publicity director for Lord & Taylor, told the Boston Conference on Distribution at the Hotel Statler here today.

Germany, which once held a virtual monopoly in such fields as the toy manufacturing business and dye making, rapidly is losing control, he said, due to the fact that American buyers have refused to purchase from the Reich and thus have forced manufacturers in the United States to exercise their ingenuity in producing things which formerly came almost exclusively from abroad.
