English is rapidly becoming the language of the Jewish masses for Yiddish is losing its hold and Hebrew cannot become their language, it was pointed out by Chaim Greenberg in an address today on cultural problems of American Jewry at the convention of the Jewish National Workers’ Alliance. Pointing out that Yiddish cannot remain the language of the Jewish masses he concluded that English must become the spoken tongue of the Jewish people and Hebrew the mother tongue in order to strengthen the hold of the Jews on their national treasures.
