Case (R.NJ) said Tuesday that UNESCO’s approval of an Arab-Communist bloc resolution regarding Jerusalem would endanger support for that United Nations subgroup in the U.S. Congress and “erode its wide spectrum of support in the world.” The resolution’s charges, Case said, are “baseless.” The charges were that Israel was “persistently altering the historical features of the city of Jerusalem.” although the report of the inspectors representing UNESCO’s Director General have reported the care and professional work done by Israeli authorities in the city was highly favorable.
