Former United States Senator Herbert H. Lehman received tonight the Solomon Bublick Public Service Award of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem for this year. The bronze plaque citing Sen. Lehman as a “statesman and humanitarian” and a check for $1, 000 were presented by Israel Ambassador Abba Eban at dinner of the Philadelphia chapter of the American Friends of the University.
The dinner kicked off a campaign in this city for $375, 000 for a Humanities Wing to be established at the Jewish National and University Library planned for the University’s new campus at Givat Ram. One thousand persons attended the function.
