A resolution calling on the United States Government to continue to recognize Transjordan as part of mandated Palestine and to instruct our representative to the United Nations to seek postponement of international determination of the status of Transjordan until the future status of Palestine as a whole is determined, was introduced in the Senate today by Senator Francis J. Myers, Pennsylvania Democrat.
Other senators joining Myers in sponsoring the resolution were Capper of Kan., La Follete of Wis., Guffey of Penn., Johnson of Col., McMahon of Conn., Magnusson of Wash., Murray of Mont., Pepper of Fla., and Taylor of Idaho.
Myers in introducing the resolution said “we cannot support the creature states or puppet sovereigns which the British Empire, or any other empire, foists upon the world.”
An identical resolution was introduced simultaneously in the House of Representatives by Rep. Andrew Somers of New York.
