An amendment to extend the cut-off date for DP immigration to the United States to Jan. 1, 1949, was introduced in the Senate today by Sen. Alexander Wiley. The measure would bring the present deadline–Dec, 22, 1945–up to date to admit 40,000 to 45,000 Jews who fled to DP camps in Germany to escape postwar Polish pogroms. Wiley also announced he would introduce several other liberalizing amendments to the DP immigration law.
