In an address in the Senate supporting a petition asking the creation of an intergovernmental agency with powers to act to save the Jews in Europe, Sen. William Lenger, Republican of North Dakota, criticized the fact that no report on the Bermuda Conference has as yet been given to the Senate. He recalled that shortly after the conclusion of the conference, Senator Scott Lucas of Illinois, who was one of the three. American representatives at Bermuda, promised that the results of the parley would be divulged. He also scored the British policy in Palestine for closing the door to Jewish immigration.
The petition for which Senator Langer was speaking was drawn up by the Emergency Committee to Save the Jewish People of Europe and was given to Vice-President Wallace by the delegation of 300 rabbis which visited Washington on Wednesday. The Vice-President conveyed the petition to the Senate. It has been referred to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
