The Senate Immigration Sub-Committee met in executive session yesterday and at the conclusion of the session Chairman Senator Reed of Pennsylvania, while unwilling to disclose the nature of the Sub-Committee’s decisions, indicated that this body will make a final report to the General Committee on Tuesday.
In well-informed quarters, it is being said that while no outstanding changes may be expected as the result of the Sub-Committee’s further deliberations, there is some possibility of a favorable reversal of attitude on the exemption of close relatives from the quota, which the Sub-Committee in its report a week ago rejected.
It is believed that the appeals of Louis Marshall and Maurice D. Rosenberg, and the eloquent pleas of Jacob Billikopf and Judge Lewis of Philadelphia, last week, have been a considerable factor in influencing some members of the Committee, especially Reed, toward liberalizing the bill.
