Senate lawmakers introduced legislation on Wednesday to provide greater protections for religious employees in the workplace. The Workplace Religious Freedom Act, which has the support of every major Jewish group and a range of other religious organizations, would require employers to accommodate the religious observances of their employees, including Jews who observe the Sabbath, provided that it does not impose an “undue hardship” on the employer.
