Senate Republican leader Everett M. Dirksen issued a statement today, calling the Arab-Israel crisis “explosive and dangerous.” Joining other Senators in bi-partisan expressions of fear of a possible United Arab Republic aggression against Israel, the Illinois Senator said the situation contained a threat of a third world war. He urged corrective measures.
“If we expect to maintain peace and to prevent a war erupting in the Middle East, we are going to have to monitor the situation very carefully,” the Senator stated.
