Senator Wm. H. King of Utah will be the guest of honor and deliver the principal address at the memorial meeting to be held on the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the death of Theodor Herzl, here. The meeting will take place Sunday evening, July 28, at Chizuk Amona synagogue. Menachem Ribalow, editor of the “Hadoar,” and Harry T. Kellman, president of the Seaboard Zionist Region, will also speak. Joseph Allen will preside.
The Jewish Agency has been endorsed by the District Grand Lodge of the Independent Order B’nai B’rith. The endorsement took the form of the following resolution:
“Whereas, the Independent Order of B’nai B’rith is in thorough sympathy with the upbuilding of Palestine as a Jewish homeland; and
“Whereas, the task of rebuilding Palestine demands for its realization the support of the whole Jewish people and
“Whereas, the Zionist Organization, which until now has been the sole Jewish Agency to cooperate with the mandatory Power and has, through its president, Dr. Chaim Weizmann, and in accordance with Article 4 of the Mandate, conducted negotiations with the leaders of important non-Zionist groups both in America and in Europe toward the end that all sections of Jewry might lend their active support to the upbuilding of Palestine and share with the Zionists the duties and responsibilities of the Jewish Agency; and.
“Whereas, these negotiations have met with conspicuous success and give promise of a happy and successful conclusion in the near future;
Be It Resolved, that District Grand Lodge No. 4 of the Independent Order B’nai B’rith, in convention assembled, rejoices at the extension of the Jewish Agency, fully appreciates the added impetus it will give to the rebuilding of Palestine, and greets it as an event of the greatest historical significance in the life of the Jewish people; and be it further
“Resolved, that this convention extends its congratulations to Dr. Chaim Weizmann and to Mr. Louis Marsahll, whose leadership, vision and untiring efforts have been largely responsible for the success of the Agency negotiations.”
