Senators Robert A. Taft and Paul H. Douglas appeared on behalf of the proposed $150,000,000 grant-in-aid bill for Israel today and testified before a closed hearing of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
Closed hearings were held yesterday by the House Foreign Affairs Committee on the bill, but the results were kept secret by members of the committee. It is expected, however, that Israel’s prospects for aid will be known more clearly within the next two days. At the latest, the results of the Israel bid will be known by about August 20 when the House hopes to adjourn.
