A commission to investigate the Jewish situation in Lithuania and bring back a report with recommendations for constructive aid from America, will proceed to Lithuania in August, Henry Hurwitz, President of the Federation of American Jews of Lithuanian Descent, announced.
The members of the Commission are Judge William M. Lewis of Philadelphia, honorary president of the Federation; Herman L. Winer of New York, and Alexander Isserman of Newark, vice-presidents.
The members will meet in Kovno during the third week in August. They will make an independent investigation of the status and problems of Lithuanian Jewry. They will meet for discussion with the Lithuanian Jewish leaders and also with the Lithuanian Government authorities.
