In view of the “immense” amount of money to be raised in the coming year by the United Jewish Appeal in the United States and by the Keren Hayesod in 54 other countries. Israeli Institutions of higher learning will be asked not to conduct their own fund raising campaigns abroad, Finance Minister Pinhas Sapir said yesterday. Speaking to the Planning Committee for the re-constitution of the Jewish Agency, Mr. Sapir said that small drives would harm the General Emergency Campaign, and added, the institutions affected by the ban should be compensated by the campaign. Mr. Sapir said the UJA and Keren Hayesod would attempt to raise a record $600 million in the next year while the Israel Bond Organization would attempt to raise $400 million in addition to the $100 million they are seeking to raise in the last four months of this year.
