The possibility that the Agudath Israel may receive separate immigration certificates to be alloted to members of its organization abroad was seen in the communication which the organization received today from the government.
The government has requested the Agudath Israel, extreme orthodox group, to furnish a list of young orthodox Jews abroad who wish to settle in Palestine and who in the opinion of the Agudath Israel are suitable.
The Agudath Israel delegation was received last month by the High Commissioner to whom it presented its demands for a separate immigration list.
Simultaneously the final allocation of the 4500 immigration certificates it has received was made known by the Jewish Agency Executive.
Of the total 2,400 certificates are to be assigned to chaluzim; 1,200 to relatives of Palestine residents; and 500 to settlers coming in the middle class category who have £150 in cash.
This decision was adopted despite the insistence of Heschel Farbstein of Poland and Emanuel Neumann of New York, members of the World Zionist Executive who demanded that 1,000 certificates be assigned for middle class elements.
