Sephardic Jews in the United States were urged to take a more active part as a group in American Jewish communal life by Dr. Stephen S. Wise, president of the American Jewish Congress, in an address delivered at the annual dinner of the Central Sephardic Jewish Community of America, at the Henry Hudson Hotel

“I have a great admiration and a deep respect for Sephardic Jewry, whose contribution to the spiritual heritage of all Jews has been enormous,” Dr. Wise said, “The time has now arrived for the Sephardic Jews in America to become more aware of that heritage, to do more to foster it,” he declared.
