Rabbi Chaim Wassal, a Sephardic rabbi who was a personal friend and correspondent of the late Dr. Theodor Herzl, father of the political Zionist movement, died along the shores of Lake Tiberias this weekend, at the age of 104. Funeral services for the rabbi were held at Tiberias today. Rabbi Wassal was born in Tunisia and traveled widely through many countries, including Austria, where he became acquainted with Dr. Herzl.
