The first national conference of the Youth Division of the American Sephardi Federation will be held Nov. 20-23, Mati Ronen, the executive director of the American Sephardi Federation, said today. “The convention.” said Ronen, “will be devoted to defining the ways in which we can best implement the objective of the Youth Division.” These objectives, according to Ronen, include strengthening the unity of Sephardic Jewry in America and Israel, and strengthening and preserving the Sephardic heritage, tradition and culture here and throughout the world.
The Executive of the Youth Division, which reached the decision to hold this convention, agreed that the conclave will aim at the broadest participation on the part of the youth throughout the U.S. All Sephardic youth, Ronen said, will be welcome to attend and participate in the discussions. The three-day convention will be held at Congregation Or VeShalom in Atlanta. Ga. According to Ronen, the convention will have to reach a decision concerning the Youth Division and its work in the future, activities in Israel with Sephardic youth, and activities among the Sephardic youth in the U.S.
