Serbia’s Jewish community canceled some of its Purim celebrations this week. The move was made due to the ongoing state of emergency in Serbia following the assassination of Prime Minister Zoran Djindic, Davor Salom, a Serbian Jewish leader, told JTA. Around 200 members of the community were due to attend a party in a Belgrade hotel. Synagogue services went ahead as planned, however.
