The French Government today offered the estimated 8,000 Jewish aliens illegally in France an opportunity to settle on the land, and warned that otherwise they would have to leave the country.

The project to settle the refugees in certain French districts, to be financed by the French Jews, was disclosed by Phillippe Serre, Under-secretary of labor, to a delegation headed by Marc Jarblum, of the Federation of Jewish Societies.

M. Jarblum later announced the project to a meeting of the federation, declaring that the French Government was taking into consideration the plight of the Jews in connection with the current drive to eliminate aliens illegally in France.

International Jewish relief organizations were expected to assist French Jewish societies in raising the funds to finance the plan. A detailed study of the project and its financial requirements will be started shortly.
