Settler rabbis asked Israel’s Chief Rabbinate to declare a fast on the day a synagogue in the Gaza Strip was razed. Ynet reported last Friday that Gush Katif rabbis, supported by a few rabbis from the Yesha settlers council, presented the request to the rabbinate to commemorate 8 Elul, the Hebrew date on which Palestinians torched the Gush Katif synagogue, which took place just after Israel’s pullout from the Gaza Strip last summer.
