World Zionist Organization chairman Louis Pincus said here today that 17,000 immigrants from the west were expected in Israel this year–roughly the same as last year. Pincus was addressing the Budgetary Committee of the WZO.

Pincus noted that immigration from Argentina and Uruguay was expected to rise by 50 percent during this year but did not release the actual figure.

He said the study had shown that the immigration of families from the U.S. had not dropped substantially; the real decline concerned single people. WZO treasurer Leon Dulzin reported the Jewish Agency this week had obtained a fifteen million dollar loan from a German bank to help cover immediate needs.
