The S.S. Ernie Pyle arrived here today from Germany with 759 immigrants of all faiths and nationalities. They are the 17th transport of displaced persons to land in the U.S. since the Truman directive on the entry of DP’s was issued.
More than 200 of the Jewish DP’s were assisted in immigrating by the United Service for New Americans and the Joint Distribution Committee, while another 200 were aided by HIAS. Representatives of USNA and HIAS met the arrivals at the pier.
