Several European countries will honor the father of modern Zionism. The consuls general of Austria, Hungary and Switzerland will join Israel’s consul general at a commemoration for Theodor Herzl on Wednesday in New York. Herzl, the father of Zionism, was born in Budapest, educated in Vienna and coordinated the First Zionist Congress in Basel, Switzerland, in 1897.
