Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir was reported in good spirits and working from his bed at the Hadassah University Hospital here Wednesday evening, several hours after he was admitted for what was described as fatigue.
A hospital spokesman said he would be discharged in 24 to 48 hours, after test results are known.
According to reports, Shamir took sick after receiving a blow at his home Tuesday. The nature of the blow was not disclosed.
Nevertheless, the 73-year-old prime minister went ahead with two scheduled Independence Day appearances.
He attended the final rounds of the international Bible Quiz, where he posed the traditional prime minister’s question and made a short speech.
He also visited the Mevasseret Zion immigrant absorption center near Jerusalem.
When he continued to feel ill, his doctor ordered him to the hospital.
