Gregorio Shapiro, prominent industrialist and one of the leading Zionists in this country, was elected here last night as president of the Jewish Central Committee, the representative body of organized Jewry in Mexico. I. Z. Berebichez was re-elected general secretary.
Mr. Shapiro served one term as president of the Jewish Central Committee some years ago. He has been president of the Jewish National Fund of Mexico, president of the Israel Bond Organization here, and active in many other Jewish and pro-Zionist causes.
